Applicant needs to able to operate a computer.If you want to make a difference in the lives of the elderly, please apply today!PurposeUnder direction and supervision of the Activities Coordinator, the Activities Assistant position assists and supports the implementation of the activities program. Operates within strict guidelines and procedures, with little latitude for variation or change.QualificationsFunctional literacy in spoken and written EnglishDemonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to follow written and oral instructionsComplete assignments timely, completely and accuratelyEssential FunctionsAssist Activity Coordinator in implementing programs of individual and group activities based on residents' needs.Assist Activity Coordinator in using the resident assessment protocols (RAPs) to determine whether to proceed to care planning for concerns related to a resident's activity.Gather data and document required ancillary assessments including but not limited to resident assessment protocol summary documentation.Identify and document in the resident's care plan, the activity interests, needs and concerns of the resident. Care plans will be reviewed and updated as necessary but at least quarterly.Document all interaction with resident and/or family in the assessment, care plan and progress notes as required by federal and state requirements.Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and attend resident care conferences as required.Assist Activity Coordinator in planning and conducting activity programs to assist residents return to the community.Assist Activity Coordinator in planning and implementing evening and weekend functions as necessary.Assist in scheduling and supervising volunteers.Assist in implementing community events related to residents' interests.Assist in scheduling and implementing room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.Schedule and implement indoor and outdoor activity programs.Maintain records of participation in activities and resident response or lack of response to activities.Prepare materials and equipment for activities and maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement programs and report to Coordinator.Deliver personal mail to residents; read upon request or as appropriate.Interact with residents in accordance with resident's rights and other regulations and facility policies.Observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Program.Delegation of AuthorityAuthority is delegated to the individual in this position to:Assist the activity director in implementing an activity program to meet each resident's needs.Maintain the resources needed for each resident's activity needs.Assist the activity director with required record keeping.Position reports to: Activity CoordinatorPosition Supervises: NoneEOE / AAP Veterans and Disabled
